Chapada is a popular highland and often visited by Cuiabanos. There are many beautiful waterfalls and if the weather is clear, the view is fantastic. Local people
even belive that it`s an UFO landing place. The geographic centre of South America is also on this plateau.
After breakfast our trip to the Salgadeira waterfall starts by passing Cuiaba. A lot of locals picnic and take a bath at this nice place.
Our tour goes on to Portao d Inferno (hell`s gate). As you can tell by the name it`s a dangerous passage. There is a cliff going deep down on one side of the road. We`ll stop for a while to enjoy the view.
We go on to the Centro Geodesico (geographical centre of South America). In clear weather the view reaches 100 km. Afterwards we drive to the small city Chapada dos Guimaraes where lunch is waiting for us. A lot of Cuiabanos own a weekend home here which makes that place quite busy on weekends.
After lunch we visit the most famous waterfall „Veu das Noivas“ (bride`s veil). The water drops 70 meters into a gorge. From here we can walk to the Andorinhas fall (Swallows-fall) and might be able to dive there. This depends on your courage.
Relaxed and refreshed we return to UeSo-Cerrado.
